Venice Beach & Santa Monica Pier

One more time trip to Los Angeles, and this time my brother flew there from Finland to meet us. We spent 6 days in LA, and our first hotel was in Beverly Hills and then in West Hollywood. With him I went to Venice Beach Boardwalk and Santa Monica Pier again, but luckily I had already taken almost all the possible photos so I didn't need to spend a lot of time for that this time. We spent 10 bucks for the sky wheel, in which you apparently could have spent as much time as you wanted to for that price. After few rounds we realized we might need to tell them when we are done, so then we were trying to casually wave for another 2 rounds to show we're ready to go. No more LA for me at least for the rest of the year!

The next morning I went back to Venice Beach, and had planned to walk to Santa Monica Pier from there. I didn't get to leave as early as I had planned though, so I felt I didn't have time for the walk that would have been more than half an hour. I mean I still walked at the Venice Beach for longer than half an hour, but I thought the beach walk from Venice to Santa Monica might get a bit boring after the actual boardwalk ends. I was assuming there wouldn't be that cool things to see and I would have just wasted my time. The sunset was around 5pm again, so I wanted to see as much as possible during those few hours I had. I was a bit frustrated that I didn't leave earlier, I would have wanted to leave right after the sunrise, but eventually I realized I couldn't have walked for like 10 hours anyway. Normally I probably could have, but I have had pretty bad back problems past few months, so walking started to hurt already after the first half an hour.  I still managed to walk until it got dark, and saw pretty much what I had planned to. I still went to Melrose Avenue from Santa Monica, and will later post from there too. The weather was pretty gloomy, and the pictures didn't end up being as bright and vibrant as I would have imagined them to be, but maybe next time I get to try again.

Lähdin seuraavana aamuna kävelemään takaisin Venice Beachille, ja olin sieltä ajatellut kävellä Santa Monica pieriin (noin 40min kävely Google mapsin mukaan), mutta päädyin ottamaan Uberin sillä aikaa oli rajallisesti. Lähdin myöhemmin kuin olin alunperin ajatellut (vasta 11 aikaan), ja pimeä oli tulossa jo viiden jälkeen. Normaalisti tuo ei olisi ollut matka eikä mikään, saattaisin hyvin kävellä vaikka 5 tuntia putkeen kuten viime kerralla, mutta en halunnut tuhlata aikaa pelkällä rannalla kävelemiseen, sillä itse boardwalk ei kuitenkaan Santa Monica pieriin asti vie, ja pelkkä ranta olisi käynyt tylsäksi... Minulla on myöskin ollut viimeiset kuukaudet selässä välilevyn kanssa ongelmia, ja valitettavasti kävely alkoi sattumaan jo ensimmäisen tunnin aikana, mutta jaksoin kuitenkin auringonlaskuun asti pelkällä kahdella lyhyellä istumistauolla! Eli olihan se sittenkin tuon 5 tuntia aikalailla putkeen silti... Ei taas tiedä koska pääsee seuraavan kerran niin ei halunnut jättää kaikkea suunnittelemaansa näkemättä osittain itse aiheutetun vaivan takia. Lähdin Santa Monicasta vielä Hollywoodiin päin kävelemään, ja päädyin myös pyörimään Santa Monican shoppailukadulla n. tunnin verran joka oli ehkä vähän turhaa ajanhukkaa myös... Keli oli tosi pilvinen ja ankea, joten kuvistakaan ei ihan niin kirkkaita ja pirteitä tullut mitä olisin toivonut. Onneksi ei kuitenkaan satanut, ja olihan se nyt silti mukavampi keli kuin esim. Pennsylvaniaan palattuamme. Ehkä taas seuraavalla kerralla pääsen yrittämään uudestaan parempien kuvien toivossa x)
